Washington Apartments is a multi-unit complex with 57 residential units situated at the corner of 21 Virginia Avenue East and 30 Charlotte Street, Eden Terrace, Auckland. The contract work comprises recladding and remediation of all 57 residential units.
Washington Apartments is a multi-unit complex with 57 residential units situated at the corner of 21 Virginia Avenue East and 30 Charlotte Street, Eden Terrace, Auckland. The contract work comprises recladding and remediation of all 57 residential units.
Remediation of the building was undertaken in two stages. Stage 1 was completed in 2018 remediating a quarter of the apartment complex. This initial stage was repaired to discover the cause of damage and to ensure the cost of all the work could be reasonably established. This enabled the overall quantum of the remediation to be valued and formed the basis of a High Court weather tightness claim, in which Veron acted as an expert witness during the successful legal process.
Veron Building Consultants developed the detailed design, obtained the building consent for both stages and undertook contractor procurement following a competitive tender process. The Body Corporate engaged Veron as the Engineer to Contract under NZS3910:2013.
